A Thanksgiving Gallery
A few weeks ago, Kyle and I took our kids down to the Farm to spend a weekend with some of our dearest and best friends: Becky and Greg and their 3 kids. It had been a long time since we had spent extended quality time with our friends with no other reason for us to get together. Usually, there's a Razorback game, birthday party or some other reason. But every now and then, we like to plan a weekend with just us and for no reason other than a desire to spend time together.

As such, he is the only kiddo not pictured here with Kyle and Greg.

Mia (6) is such a good big sister to all the kids. How well I remember that role...
The weather was perfect: crisp, cool, fall. I went down to the Farm with my kids on Thursday in order to cook, shop for our meals, and get ready. It was also a rare opportunity for me to experience the blissful solitude of the place. Even with my Brooklyn and August there, it was quiet enough to be perfect. They played together while I made lasagna, tiramisu, homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, wassail, brownies...the smells of baking food soon filled the house and all was well.

Becky and I got to talk and enjoy each other's company. Kyle and Greg took the kids fishing on our pond. I led the kids on a nature walk around the property. Greg studied for his architectural exams. And when it was all said and done and everyone left on Sunday evening, I stayed behind to clean the house, wash the sheets and tidy up for the next guests...and even that was relaxing. Once again, the Farm served as a perfect setting for relaxation and bonding. Thanks again to Mom and Dad for providing it for us!!!
